Gavin is the author of 'Trading in the Shadow of the Smart Money'. He has helped thousands of traders in over 36 countries learn how to track the smart money and avoid the tricks that the smart money play. Gavin was taught to trade by the late veteran syndicate trader Tom Williams and so was fortunate enough to avoid picking up the bad habits that many retail traders fall prey to. After living in the USA for some years, he is now based in the UK. He regularly hosts seminars and events sharing his experience and knowledge both of trading and the retail trader experience, derived from talking to hundreds of retail traders each month, most of whom find the markets a challenging environment.
Philip was fascinated by the stock market at an early age and began investing in his early teens, encouraged by his father. He began work as an accountant but became disillusioned by all the regulations and red tape. In 1984 his father retired from running investment portfolios and Philip took over their management. Initially his investment management was based upon fundamental analysis using his accountancy skills. With the help of Tom Williams and attending seminars he began to understand how the markets really functioned. Philip has gained a thorough understanding of the Wyckoff VSA principles and regularly features in educational events offering bar-by-bar analysis using them to uncover the real messages contained in the charts. His aim now is to share that knowledge with new users and help them to reach the level of understanding that he has achieved.
